About the Job
The Lead Speech-Language Pathologist (Lead SLP) serves as the clinical and operational leader of the Speech Therapy Department at Mindful Sprouts. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of exceptional, evidence-based speech-language services while fostering a culture of clinical excellence, collaboration, accountability, and compassionate care.

The Lead SLP provides direct patient care while overseeing the performance, development, and clinical quality of the Speech Therapy team. This individual partners closely with executive leadership to improve department operations, drive quality initiatives, support strategic growth, and ensure every family receives outstanding service. The ideal candidate is an experienced pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist with strong leadership abilities, excellent clinical judgment, and a passion for mentoring clinicians and building high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

1. Clinical Leadership

• Lead the Speech Therapy Department by establishing high clinical standards and promoting evidence-based practice.
• Provide mentorship, coaching, and ongoing clinical guidance to SLPs, CFs, and SLPAs.
• Serve as the primary clinical resource for complex evaluations and treatment planning.
• Ensure consistency of treatment approaches across providers.
• Promote continuous professional development through education, feedback, and case consultation.
• Lead regular department meetings and clinical trainings.
• Maintain current knowledge of research, best practices, and regulatory changes.

2. Clinical Excellence & Patient Care

• Complete comprehensive speech-language evaluations.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practice.
• Provide skilled speech-language therapy as needed.
• Monitor client outcomes and modify plans of care accordingly.
• Ensure treatment remains medically necessary and goal driven.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation.
• Ensure compliance with ASHA, Florida Board requirements, HIPAA, payer guidelines, and company policies.
• Provide ongoing education and coaching to parents and caregivers to support the carryover of therapeutic strategies in the home and community environments.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding treatment progress, clinical observations, goal achievement, and recommendations for continued development.
• Develop individualized home practice recommendations and caregiver strategies to reinforce therapy goals outside of treatment sessions.
• Foster collaborative partnerships with families by addressing questions, providing timely updates, and involving caregivers in treatment planning and decision-making.
• Ensure parent education and communication are documented in accordance with company standards and payer requirements.

3. Supervision & Staff Development

• Supervise SLPs, Clinical Fellows, and SLPAs in accordance with Florida law and ASHA requirements.
• Conduct competency assessments and clinical observations.
• Provide structured feedback and coaching.
• Assist with recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and orientation.
• Develop individualized professional development plans.
• Conduct annual performance evaluations.
• Support corrective action and performance improvement initiatives when needed.
• Foster accountability while maintaining a supportive work environment.

4. Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Perform regular documentation audits.
• Monitor treatment quality and clinical outcomes.
• Ensure timely completion of evaluations, progress reports, plans of care, and required documentation.
• Maintain compliance with payer requirements and regulatory standards.
• Develop and implement corrective action plans when quality concerns are identified.
• Monitor supervision compliance for SLPAs and Clinical Fellows.
• Assist with internal audits, accreditation activities, and quality improvement initiatives.

5. Department Operations

• Monitor clinician productivity, caseload distribution, and scheduling efficiency.
• Collaborate with Scheduling and Operations to optimize clinician utilization.
• Monitor department KPIs and performance metrics.
• Assist with forecasting staffing needs.
• Identify workflow inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
• Help develop department policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.
• Participate in strategic planning for department growth.

6. Collaboration

• Partner closely with ABA, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Psychology, and other interdisciplinary providers.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews.
• Maintain collaborative relationships with physicians, schools, and community providers.
• Support family education and caregiver involvement.
• Represent the Speech Department in leadership meetings.
• Assist with community outreach and program development.

Qualifications

Required

• Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university.
• Active Florida Speech-Language Pathologist License.
• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP).
• Minimum five (5) years of pediatric clinical experience.
• Minimum two (2) years of leadership or supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated experience supervising SLPAs and/or Clinical Fellows.
• Strong knowledge of pediatric speech, language, feeding, and swallowing disorders.
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
• Experience with EMR documentation systems.

Preferred

• Experience working alongside ABA providers.
• Feeding therapy experience.
• AAC evaluation and implementation experience.
• Experience developing department policies and procedures.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary therapy teams.
• Quality assurance or compliance experience.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish).
